What is Sebha?

The daily prayer ritual is the most conspicuous outward manifestation of the spiritual life of Muslims. Tasbih is an order contained in the Holy Quran. In Islamic literature and prayer manuals like Azkar & Awrad, we learn about "praying without ceasing." To reach that ecstatic state is the goal of a mystic. The rosary used in Islam is called Sebha, derived from "sabbaha" meaning to give praise. The rosary has a long history, used initially for supererogatory prayer.

The Sebha consists of ninety-nine beads with markers after every thirty-three, allowing followers to perform al-tasbih by repeating praises to God. Nowadays, Sebhas are used widely among Muslims globally.

A rosary holds not only religious significance but also represents an ancient craft fighting to endure.
